For thirty years, companies have tried to increase employee engagement with little success. It is time to switch the focus from engagement to wellbeing. By focusing on wellbeing, we can help employees connect their purpose to their work and as a result, rekindle the joy in work. This presentation will demonstrate the link between engagement and wellbeing and provide the road map for embarking on the wellbeing journey. By doing so, organizations can experience an increase in customer satisfaction, a decrease turnover and greater profitability. Our presenter, Julie McGovern, will share a real life example of one organization’s three year journey to increase employee wellbeing.
Julie McGovern is currently the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. In this role, she established the wellbeing framework to guide all workforce initiatives.
Ms. McGovern has executive experience in various HR roles, including health benefits administration, talent development and recruitment, as well as guiding hospital mergers and integration. She has a Master’s degree in Corporate and Organizational Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University and holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources, as well as SHRM-Senior Certified Professional designations.
Julie is the author of the book: The Happy Employee. She also co-authored the article Engaging Employees in Wellbeing: Moving from the Triple Aim to the Quadruple Aim, which was published in Nursing Administration Quarterly.
Ms. McGovern is a board member for the Anne Arundel Workforce Initiatives Board and the Anne Arundel County United Way Partnership Board.
