Guest Speaker: Rob Elkington, Ph.D., is an Adjunct professor at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) in both the Faculty of Business and IT, and the Faculty of Education. Designing and leading both undergraduate programs in Critical Thinking and Ethics, Collaborative Leadership, Leadership Negotiation and Teamwork, Leadership and Administration, and Business Ethics. Rob also facilitates graduate courses in Foundations of Leadership, Ethical Leadership, and Leadership and Technology. Rob is a member of the International Leadership Association having presented in Montreal, San Diego, Barcelona and Atlanta on various leadership themes. Rob also facilitates numerous seminars for the UOIT Management Development Centre, and is a Senior Lecturer with the Stellenbosch University School of Public Leadership.

Rob is CEO of Global Leadership Initiatives http://www.globalleader.ca/#/aboutUs which he started with Consultants from around the world. Rob leads an International Research team looking into: “Seeking Best Methods for Leadership Development”, and another international research team exploring the topic of “Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership in Disadvantaged Contexts." Rob also leads a team of researchers looking into “Emerging Issues in Higher Educational Leadership and has been asked to present on this theme at the 11th Annual Higher Education Conference in Durban South Africa later this year.

Rob served as lead Editor for the soon to be published (May, 2017, Emerald): “Visionary Leadership in a Turbulent World: Thriving in the New VUCA Context.” Rob has published a number of peer reviewed articles on the subject of leadership as well as a chapter in the Building Leadership Bridges series (Emerald) titled: "The Contribution of Ubuntu and Confucianism to Western Leadership Thinking. Rob is currently lead Editor with a global team of authors working on a new book on leadership (June, 2018). "Closer to home, Rob serves as Community Liaison for the Durham Community Innovation Lab, a Not for Profit, that assists young Entrepreneurs to start and develop new businesses in the Durham region.

Rob’s interest in preparing leaders to work in a “VUCA” world and understanding the complexities and competencies required, will provide us as OD practitioner’s valuable insights and information about our own leadership requirements, while offering us ideas and strategies for engaging with the leaders we support, enabling their ability to thrive in this new world.
